Job summary

LifeScape is seeking a Teaching Assistant to provide compassionate care and support to children and young adults with disabilities across classroom, residential, and community settings in Sioux Falls. The role includes assisting with daily living activities, promoting independence, and supporting individualized education and life-skills efforts.

The position offers a Monday–Friday schedule from 7:30 AM to 4 PM, with opportunities for growth, training, and a comprehensive benefits package

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record may be necessary.
  • Some positions may require training/testing to drive accessible vehicles.
  • Not all areas require a driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate care and support to children and young adults with disabilities in classroom, residential, and community settings.
  • Assist with daily living and personal hygiene needs, including bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing, meal assistance, positioning, and transfers while promoting dignity and independence.
  • Support educational, recreational, vocational, and life-skill development activities tailored to each individual’s goals and abilities.
  • Assist teachers and team members in creating a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment.
  • Encourage community involvement and social participation through outings, activities, and transportation support.
  • Follow individualized care and support plans while responding appropriately to safety concerns and emergencies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, communicate important updates, and participate in required trainings and team meetings.
  • Be part of a mission-driven team that makes a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals and families every day.
