Job summary

University Avenue Discovery Center (UADC) is seeking a part-time Teaching Assistant to support our classroom teaching team and help create a safe, engaging environment for young learners. This role runs Monday through Friday, 12:00 PM to 5:30 PM, with emphasis on developmentally appropriate activities.

Candidates should have coursework in education, and at least one year of experience preferred. A background check, TB test, and compliance with Wisconsin licensing rules are required.

Qualifications

  • Coursework in education or a related field.
  • One year or more of experience, preferred.
  • A completed criminal background disclosure and eligibility to work in a childcare program under Wisconsin background check law are required.
  • Medical exam and TB test as required by Wisconsin childcare licensing regulations.
  • Professionalism, classroom management skills, flexibility, collaborative approach and a sense of humor are all musts for this position.
  • COVID-19 vaccination or an approved medical or religious accommodation.

University Avenue Discovery Center (UADC) is looking for a part time Teaching Assistant.

Monday through Friday- 12-5:30pm

What You'll Do

Job Description:

  • Work together with the classroom teaching team to execute developmentally appropriate curricular content.
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the individual needs of students in the classroom.
  • Create a stimulating, caring, and safe environment for children in the classroom.
  • Teachers will demonstrate strong verbal and written skills in communication with the teaching team, parents, and the UADC administrative team.
  • Teachers will use good judgment in high stress situations.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of family issues and cultural diversity and how they impact the development and learning of the child, and use this knowledge to inform teaching practices.
  • Teachers need to have effective practices surrounding the use of positive social-emotional problem solving strategies.
