Job summary

Dynamic Service Solutions (DSS) is seeking a Teaching Assistant in Houston, TX 77033 to support unaccompanied children with educational assessments and a structured curriculum per ORR, in a trauma-informed, culturally responsive environment.

Responsibilities include implementing lesson plans, organizing materials, supervising youth, and ensuring a safe, inclusive classroom while following ORR policies; bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.

Qualifications

• Level: High school diploma or GED.
• 1 year of experience in a classroom, community service and/or an education setting.
• 1 year of experience in relevant field.
• 1 year of experience in teaching capacity, knowledge in curriculum development and lesson planning - preferred.
• Classroom teaching experience in an accredited early childhood facility / school - preferred.
• 2 years Teaching Assistant experience in youth educational classroom setting.

• Supervise youth and set appropriate behavior limits in accordance with the youth's individual treatment and behavior plan and ORR standards.
• Promote a positive, safe, and inclusive climate of learning and excellence where students can enhance their developmental growth.
• Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment of respect and rapport to ensure a positive learning experience for youth with diverse backgrounds.
• Ensure the educational services adhere to ORR policies and procedures, federal, state and company legal guidelines and internal policies.

Job Summary

The Teaching Assistant (TA) is responsible for ensuring that all unaccompanied children UC (Unaccompanied Children) receive educational assessments and a structured education per the Office of Refugees Resettlement (ORR). The teaching assistant will be responsible for maintaining a positive and appropriate educational environment that meets the intellectual and emotional needs of all children.

Working Conditions/Physical Effort

Work is performed mostly in an office setting. Some overnight travel; public speaking, evening, and weekend work are requirements of the position. Regular computer work is also required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; finger, handle, or feel objects, or controls; reach; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
