Job summary

Denver Center for the Performing Arts is seeking a Teaching Artist and Education Program Manager to lead TYA school engagement and post-show workshops across the Denver Metro area. You will develop theatre education curricula, collaborate with Education staff and teaching artists, and coordinate on-site and off-site programs for students from preschool through high school.

The role requires 3–5 years of teaching experience, strong writing and collaboration skills, and the ability to manage

Qualifications

  • B.A., B.F.A, M.A. or M.F.A, degree in theatre, theatre education, education, or similar or equal professional experience.
  • 3-5 years drama/theatre teaching experience required, including demonstrating proficiency in developing and teaching arts-integrated curriculum, teaching improvisation, articulating and teaching the breath of the theatre experience and the craft of acting
  • Experience in a diversity of classrooms, programs, and ages.
  • Strong writing and reporting skills required. Possess highly collaborative and organizational skills. Assessment proficiency preferred.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Well versed in working and collaborating with schools, teachers, schools districts and community partners
  • Experience working with pre-kindergarten, elementary, middle school and high school students including devising and directing.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent collaboration, speaking and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Teach theatre-based curriculum to students ages three through adult.
  • Teach arts-integrated curriculum to students Pre-K through 12th grades.
  • Develop new curriculum for the breadth of DCPA Education offerings with the Teaching Team.
  • Collaborate with full-time faculty and teaching artists across programs.
  • Coach students in one-on-one sessions for private acting coaching.
  • Design and deliver Saturday classes, summer programming, and workshops onsite and offsite.
  • Lead post-show workshops for TY A productions and manage logistics with schools.
  • Coordinate arrivals/departures with House Management and Welcome Team.
  • Track programmatic engagement data and report findings.
