Location: Brooklyn, NY
Compensation: $40-$100/per class. Rate changes based on experience, education, & length of workshop.

Position Overview: We are seeking passionate and reliable Teaching Artists to join our dynamic team. Ideal candidates will have a strong commitment to working with young people and a deep understanding of the crucial role educators play in their development. As a Teaching Artist, you will create safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environments that prioritize accessibility, collaboration, and high-quality arts experiences.

Jamel Gaines Creative Outlet is a non-profit organization whose mission is to use the artistic expression of dance and other integrated art forms to uplift communities through education, performance, and cultural programming. The soul of our work is rooted in social justice and spiritually connecting to one another through the arts.

Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate with educators and staff to design and deliver arts-based programming.
2. Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that encourages creativity and exploration.
3. Develop and implement lesson plans that align with educational goals and artistic standards.
4. Engage with students in meaningful ways, promoting their growth both artistically and personally.
5. Ensure that all activities are conducted in a safe and respectful manner, adhering to organizational policies.

Qualifications:

1. Minimum of two years’ experience working with students in an arts and education environment.
2. Experience in musical theatre, dance, arts and crafts, or related disciplines.
3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to connect with young people.
4. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
5. Must pass a background check or be fingerprinted with the Department of Education.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bilingual artists and individuals from traditionally underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
