Summary

Guide children in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth necessary for child development and further learning.

Duties
  1. Provide materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate, and use in learning and imaginative play.
  2. Attend to children's basic needs including feeding, dressing, and diaper changing.
  3. Teach basic skills such as color, shape, number, letter recognition, personal hygiene, and social skills.
  4. Guide behavior in developmentally appropriate ways.
  5. Read books to classes and individual children.
  6. Organize and lead activities that promote physical, mental, and social development, such as games, art, music, and storytelling.
  7. Observe and evaluate children's performance, behavior, social development, and health.
  8. Identify children showing signs of emotional, developmental, or health-related issues and discuss with supervisors, parents, or guardians.
  9. Meet with parents and guardians to discuss progress and needs, and suggest ways to support learning and development.
  10. Prepare classroom materials and setup for activities.
  11. Teach proper eating habits and personal hygiene.
  12. Serve meals and snacks following nutritional guidelines.
  13. Help children acclimate to the school environment by greeting them, assisting with outerwear, and choosing activities of interest.
  14. Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet diverse needs and interests.
  15. Set clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects and communicate these to children.
  16. Demonstrate activities to children.
  17. Arrange indoor and outdoor spaces to facilitate creative play, motor skills, and safety.
  18. Maintain accurate student records as per licensing and accreditation standards.
  19. Prepare reports on students and activities as required.
  20. Plan and conduct a balanced program including instruction, demonstration, and work time that encourages observation, questioning, and investigation.
  21. Organize and display student work appropriately for their age and perceptual skills.
  22. Participate in professional meetings, conferences, and workshops to enhance skills.
  23. Collaborate with staff to plan lessons aligned with curricula.
  24. Attend staff meetings as required.
