Job summary

TEAM INC is seeking a part-time Early Childhood Assistant in Ansonia, CT. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Ensure active supervision at all times.
  • Model positive discipline to maintain safety.
  • Support curriculum implementation and follow daily schedule.
  • Engage with children and support all students’ needs.
  • Assist with family engagement activities.
  • Maintain classroom records and documentation per guidelines.
  • Adhere to state/federal requirements and standards (NAEYC, Head Start, etc.).
  • Maintain open communication with families and collaborate with staff to meet needs.
  • Use food handling, sanitation, and OSHA procedures as required.
  • Participate in trainings, meetings, and events.
  • Conduct safety drills as required.
  • Keep a clean, well-organized classroom environment.
  • Maintain a positive and nurturing demeanor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure active supervision at all times.
  • Use and model positive discipline techniques to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
  • Support the implementation of curriculum and follow daily schedule.
  • Engage with children and help to support all students’ needs.
  • Aide in planning, coordinating and encouraging family engagement opportunities.
  • Assist in the completion of required forms/documentation in accordance with state and federal guidelines. Help maintain students’ education files.
  • Adhere to all state and federal requirements/standards (i.e. OEC, NAEYC, Head Start, etc.).
  • Maintain open lines of communication with families and collaborate with other staff to ensure the needs of families are being met.
  • Use appropriate food handling, sanitation and OSHA procedures at all times.
  • Attend and actively participate in staff trainings, meetings and Agency events.
  • Aide in conducting safety drills as required.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, well-organized, clutter-free classroom environment.
  • Maintain a positive and nurturing demeanor to ensure a productive work environment.
Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Work Environment

Pre-school classroom, possibly on 2nd floor without handicapped access. Works with children with communicable diseases. Outdoor playground (possibly without handicapped access).

Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: 6+ months working with young children in a center-based environment and the ability to demonstrate child engagement and effective classroom management skills.
  • Special Skills: Knowledge of early childhood education, warm and nurturing personality, bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
Physical Requirements

Ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid; ability to see and read newsprint with or without corrective lenses; ability to speak and be understood under normal circumstances; ability to occasionally lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds; use of arms, hands, legs, and feet with or without corrective devices to accomplish the job, including evacuation of the building during emergencies. Ability to kneel, bend and sit while interacting with children at floor level.
