Job summary

The Archdiocese of St. Louis, headquartered in Shrewsbury, MO, is seeking a Substitute Teacher for Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary School.

Under the direction of the Principal, you will provide classroom instruction, supervision, and support when the regular teacher is absent. You will foster a Catholic learning environment, model faith, respect, kindness, and service while maintaining a safe, orderly classroom and communicating professionally with staff and families.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 20 college credit hours or equivalent experience/education.
• Previous classroom, teaching, childcare, coaching, or youth-related experience preferred.
• Substitute Teacher Certification is not required.
• Completion of the Archdiocese of St. Louis Prevent and Protect program is required.

Responsibilities

• Follow lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the regular classroom teacher or school administration.
• Provide appropriate instruction and guidance to students in accordance with the teacher's lesson plans and established classroom expectations.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, orderly, and positive classroom environment.
• Demonstrate effective classroom management and address student behavior appropriately and consistently.
• Supervise students throughout the school day, including classroom activities, transitions, recess, lunch, and other assigned duties.
• Assist students with classroom assignments and activities as appropriate.
• Utilize classroom technology, including Smart Boards and other instructional technology, as needed to support the curriculum.
• Maintain established classroom routines, schedules, and expectations.
• Communicate appropriately and professionally with students, faculty, staff, and school administration.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, school operations, and other sensitive information.
• Follow all school and Archdiocesan policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
• Support the Catholic identity, mission, and values of Assumption School.
• Perform other duties and supervision responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.

Job Summary
