Job summary

Lawrence Public Schools is seeking a dedicated SPED teacher at Wetherbee to join a collaborative, student-centered team. This full-time position reports to the principal and requires capacity to support diverse learners with an equity-focused approach.

Responsibilities include planning engaging lessons aligned to the district curriculum, maintaining a safe classroom, and using data to guide instruction. Strong communication and teamwork are essential for student success and school goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • MA Teaching License preferred.
  • Experience with diverse student populations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain classroom routines and school-wide procedures.
  • Create and teach daily lesson plans aligned to district curriculum.
  • Implement strategies to promote high-quality student performance in academics and behavior.
  • Maintain discipline and a safe, respectful classroom environment in accordance with school and district policies.
  • Create a classroom atmosphere that supports learning and reflects students' maturity and interests.
  • Demonstrate best practices in teaching and model correct use of oral and written language.
  • Take appropriate precautions to protect student records, school materials, and facilities.
  • Report student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and disciplinary concerns promptly to school administration.
  • Remain on-site during the entire school day unless excused by the Principal or designated representative.
  • Demonstrate punctuality, reliability, and professionalism.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or their designee.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assign reasonable and purposeful classwork and homework
  • Remain on-site during the entire school day unless excused by the Principal or designated representative
  • Demonstrate punctuality, reliability, and professionalism
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or their designee
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Demonstrated success working with multilingual learners and students with learning differences
  • Strong instructional planning and classroom management skills
  • Ability to foster meaningful relationships with students and families
  • Familiarity with culturally responsive teaching and inclusive classroom practices
  • Effective use of formative and summative assessments to guide instruction
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Commitment to professional growth and continuous improvement
  • Proficient in English; bilingual candidates highly valued
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • MA Teaching License preferred

Pay Range
  • $59,988 to $93,358 depending on experience and licensure
