Role Mission
ResponsiveEd Special Education teachers are responsible for the achievement and support of critical students. Special education teachers work with students who have a wide range of learning, cognitive, emotional, and physical disabilities. They serve as a crucial bridge between home and school for our highest-need students and their families. They partner with parents, general education teachers, and administrators to develop and implement individualized education plans to meet students' needs and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and district SPED requirements.
What You’ll Do
- Work collaboratively with campus administration to ensure ongoing child find efforts, including reviewing general education records and requesting special education records according to specific timelines.
- Schedule and conduct Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings to ensure appropriate placement and development of individualized education plans within timelines.
- Assist in acquiring contracted service providers as needed.
- Schedule evaluations and review existing data, ensuring all timeline requirements are met.
- Collaborate with general education teachers and administrators to provide accommodations and services to students with disabilities.
- Ensure IEPs are properly written and implemented.
- Regularly evaluate student progress and use findings to improve services.
- Update and send IEP report cards to parents alongside general report cards.
- Support general education teachers with resources and materials.
- Ensure compliance with state assessments and alternative assessments.
- Assist with the Response to Intervention process.
- Develop transition services for students as determined by ARD.
- Serve as a resource and trainer for campus staff on special education.
- Maintain continuous curriculum renewal responsive to student needs.
- Seek assistance from IDEA Coordination supervisor as needed.
- Support campus policies and behavior management strategies for students with disabilities.
- Maintain open communication with parents, students, staff, and administrators.
- Recommend policies to improve programs.
- Implement school board policies and procedures related to special education.
- Maintain all required reports and records.
- Perform additional duties, including after-hours activities like Saturday tutorials.

- Flexibility to adapt to district and campus changes.
Education And Experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, preferably in Special Education.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate in Special Education or eligibility for certification.
Compensation
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications, with additional stipends and incentives. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, retirement plans, and vacation packages.
