Lawrence Public Schools seeks a dedicated Middle School Special Education Teacher at Guilmette Middle School in Lawrence, MA. You will implement IEPs and provide inclusive, co-taught services to students with disabilities.

Qualifications include Bachelor's Degree, Massachusetts DESE licensure in Moderate Disabilities (PreK-8 or 5-12), and SEI Endorsement. A Master's in Special Education is preferred. Urban-school experience, inclusive/co-teaching, and bilingual English/Spanish are valued.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Massachusetts DESE licensure in Moderate Disabilities (PreK-8 or 5-12).
  • SEI Endorsement.
  • Master's Degree in Special Education or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience with inclusive and co-teaching models (preferred).
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred).

  • Plan and deliver standards-based instruction aligned to grade-level curriculum and student needs.
  • Provide specialized instruction and supports that enable students with disabilities to access rigorous learning experiences.
  • Differentiate instruction, assessments, and materials to support diverse learners.
  • Use student data to monitor progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Promote student engagement, academic discourse, and independence within inclusive learning environments.
  • IEP Development and Compliance.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, multilingual learner staff, and related service providers.
  • Engage families as partners in the educational process through regular communication and collaboration.
  • Participate actively in grade-level teams, professional learning communities, and student support meetings.
  • Contribute to a collaborative school culture focused on continuous improvement.

The Middle School Special Education Teacher provides high-quality, standards-based instruction and specialized services to students with disabilities in inclusive, co-taught, resource, and/or substantially separate settings. The teacher collaborates with educators, families, and service providers to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), support access to grade-level curriculum, and foster student growth, independence, and achievement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • -Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • -Maintain accurate documentation of student progress, services, and compliance requirements.
  • -Facilitate and participate in IEP Team meetings and reevaluation processes.
  • -Ensure accommodations, modifications, and services are implemented consistently. Collaboration
  • -Partner with general education teachers, multilingual learner staff, and related service providers to support student success.
  • -Engage families as partners in the educational process through regular communication and collaboration.
  • -Participate actively in grade-level teams, professional learning communities, and student support meetings.
  • -Contribute to a collaborative school culture focused on continuous improvement. Professional Responsibilities
