License and Certification Qualifications: Meet Georgia certification requirements in appropriate field of education.

Education Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in applicable field of education from a Professional Standards Commission (PSC) approved college or university required.

Experience Qualifications: Previous teaching experience preferred.

Skills Qualifications: Knowledge of Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) curriculum, content expertise, instructional techniques, technology integration, communication skills, diagnostic assessment, mastery of subject area, and knowledge of IDEA and due process.

Primary Responsibilities: Planning and providing appropriate learning experiences based on the district's AKS curriculum, creating a conducive environment for students' development, and collaborating with staff and parents.

  1. Demonstrate command of the subject, provide instruction, collaborate with teachers, conduct in-service programs, and communicate effectively.
  2. Develop instructional objectives, identify prerequisite skills, plan instruction, analyze student work, and prepare lesson plans.
  3. Evaluate and select resources, review materials, and ensure they match student needs and research-based practices.
  4. Oversee assessment activities, administer and interpret evaluation results.
  5. Communicate learning objectives, link content to students' backgrounds, and engage students actively.
  6. Organize content logically, follow research-based organizational plans.
  7. Utilize effective instructional strategies, assess student learning, and provide feedback.
  8. Assess and record student progress, adjust instruction accordingly.
  9. Organize the classroom environment, ensure smooth transitions, and manage housekeeping duties.
  10. Maintain behavior conducive to learning, define expectations, monitor and address behavior issues.
  11. Assist with physical needs of students, ensure safety during travel and activities.
  12. Understand and implement due process, maintain records, and coordinate eligibility and placement.
  13. Participate in professional development, apply new skills, and demonstrate progress.
  14. Execute professional responsibilities, communicate effectively, demonstrate punctuality, and collaborate.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.
