Job Title: Teacher
Starting Salary: $48,700. Additional referendum money is available for the next four years, starting at $5,400 for the 2025-26 school year. Teachers hired during the school year will receive a prorated supplement based on their hire date.
Job Summary
Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the district's goals. Establishes clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects to communicate these to students. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media suited to the physical location and the needs of students. Strives to implement the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals.
Essential Functions
- Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated times and locations.
- Plan a program of study tailored to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students. Prepare for classes and show evidence of preparation upon request.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to students' maturity and interests.
- Supervise students to ensure their safety and well-being, taking necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
- Assess student progress regularly and provide reports as required. Maintain accurate records as per laws and policies.
- Diagnose learning disabilities and seek assistance from district specialists as needed.
- Assist administration in implementing policies and rules governing student conduct. Develop classroom behavior rules and maintain order fairly. Encourage students to uphold behavioral standards.
- Be available outside instructional hours for student and parent consultations when necessary.
- Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers, and evaluate their performance in collaboration with department heads.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience: None required.
- Certifications & Licenses: Eligible for Florida Department of Education Certification in the appropriate subject area.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of subject content.
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software.
- Ability to plan and implement individualized programs of study.
- Willingness to work additional hours for grading and lesson preparation.
- Ability to manage students and multiple tasks effectively.
