Position Goal
To create and maintain a classroom atmosphere that generates high expectations and enthusiasm for learning by infusing critical thinking skills, application skills, interpersonal skills, and technology into an aligned curriculum and assessment process, resulting in measurable student achievement gains for all students in order to meet district and state standards.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
The Teacher shall carry out the following responsibilities:
- Assessment: Use assessment strategies (traditional and alternative) aligned with the curriculum and standards to assist in the continuous development of the learner.
- Communication: Use effective communication techniques with students, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement: Engage in planned professional quality improvement for self and school.
- Critical Thinking: Use appropriate techniques and strategies to promote and enhance critical, creative, and evaluative thinking capabilities of students.
- Diversity: Use instructional strategies and materials reflecting each student's culture, learning styles, and needs.
- Ethics and Regulations: Fulfill contract terms, adhere to professional ethics, and enforce regulations at federal, state, and district levels.
- Human Development and Learning: Use understanding of learning and development to support students' intellectual, personal, and social growth.
- Knowledge of Subject Matter: Demonstrate understanding of the subject matter.
- Learning Environments: Establish a classroom management system that maintains discipline and fosters engagement, social interaction, and motivation.
- Planning: Plan, implement, and evaluate effective instruction and assessment in various environments.
- Role of the Teacher: Collaborate with peers, parents, and community to improve student educational experiences.
- Technology: Integrate appropriate technology into teaching and learning.
- ESOL Requirement: Complete required training and obtain endorsement if assigned LEP students.
- Record Keeping: Keep and submit required school records and reports.
- Property: Account for school property and report to appropriate authorities.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform activities in compliance with equal employment and non-discrimination policies.
- Ensure safety procedures are followed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Appropriate Florida certification.
- Computer skills as required.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Bilingual skills preferred.
