Salary: $50,000.00 Annually

Our Science Teacher will be responsible for teaching students in the private day school setting in Lynchburg, VA. We are looking for motivated individuals that desire to effect positive change in young people's lives. Small classroom sizes, excellent salary, tuition reimbursement, paid holidays, sick leave, 401k, and opportunities for upward mobility. We serve students ages 5 to 22 who need extra support to find success in the classroom and community in locations across Virginia.

Please note: This role requires driving, therefore a "clean driving record" is critical.

Compensation and Benefits:
  • Competitive salary starting at $50,000 with experience based increases
  • $2,500 sign on bonus for fully licensed teachers w/Special Education endorsement

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, REQUIREMENTS AND PREREQUISITES
  • Teaching License with a Special Education endorsement OR content area endorsement.
  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-4:00PM.
  • DRIVING SPECIFIC(The following list may or may not be all inclusive at time of posting):
    • Must not have any of the following violations within the last 5 years:
      • Reckless driving, including speeding 20mph or more over the posted speed limit.
      • Driving under the influence/impaired/intoxicated or refusing a blood/breath test.
      • Manslaughter or negligent homicide.
      • Driving after being declared a habitual offender.
      • Driving on a suspended or revoked license
      • Driving a commercial motor vehicle while disqualified, under the influence, with a blood alcohol level of .04 or higher, refusing a blood/breath test, or violating an out-of-service order.
      • Injuring a person while racing - felony.
      • Failure to stop at the scene of a crash where there is injury, death, or property damage of $1000 or more.
      • Emergency vehicle violation - death.
      • Vehicular assault or willful stopping, impeding, or damaging a vehicle.
      • Blocking access to the service facility.
      • Attempting to elude police.
      • Operating an unsafe vehicle.
      • Vulnerable Road User - Death.
    • Must not have any of the following violations within the last 3 years:
      • Passing a stopped school bus.
      • Careless driving.
      • Three or more minor moving violations within the last three years.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Create and implement weekly lesson plans.
  • Administer formal and informal assessments to measure student growth and mastery and to evaluate and refine instruction.
  • Differentiate instruction effectively to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Identify students who are academically at risk and initiate effective intervention strategies.
  • Participate actively in professional development.
  • Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and for the classroom, develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
  • Attend and participate in Community School Committee and various Advisory Committee meetings.
