Teacher - Preschool ESE Teacher for TLC School

TherapeuticLearning Center - Certified ESE Teacher - PreK

The Therapeutic Learning Center is in search ofa pre-kindergarten special education teacher for the 25-26 school year.Classroom teachers at the TLC are responsible for the early education of childrenin their care. Duties and responsibilities of the classroom teacher includedeveloping and delivering interactive learning programs designed to engage andeducate young children with special needs.

Key Responsibilities:

● Knowledge ofearly childhood development and milestones; experience working with studentsthat have developmental delays, medical complexities and other disabilities.

● Knowledge andunderstanding of student behavioral needs and how to effectively implementclassroom management strategies to mitigate behaviors with an emphasis onsafety, care, and dignity. All staff are provided with crisis and de-escalationtraining at the start of the school year.

● Implementengaging and developmentally appropriate lessons to students, and monitor tomake adjustments as needed. Emphasis in meeting individual learner needs andunderstanding different learning styles. Effectively implement instruction inthe areas of:

o Curriculum andLearning - Pre-Academics, Kindergarten Readiness

o Social-Emotional- Social Skills, Peer Interactions, Self-Regulation

o Communication

o Utilizeplay-based learning to facilitate instructional goals.

● Write and followthrough with Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals and maintain complianceincluding creating and documenting student goals, collecting data, andassessing students effectively to prescribe actions for improvement.

● Workcollaboratively with the instructional team with effective communication; beable to solve problems and challenges independently and with the team usingsensitivity and tact.

● Build meaningfuland communicative relationships with staff, students, and families to promotean inclusive and supportive environment for all. Keep staff and familiesinformed of student needs and progress.

● Prepare classroommaterials including printing and laminating for visuals, art projects,communication and behavioral supports, etc.

● Assist withstudent hygiene and independent functioning needs including, but not limitedto: toilet training and toileting assistance (changing diapers), handwashing,feeding.

● Organization ofclassroom structure and physical environment including building schedules,creating student groups, delegating tasks to support staff, and assisting withdaily cleaning and organizational tasks.



Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Exceptional StudentEducation, Early Childhood Education, or related field

Licensure: Current and valid Florida Teaching Certificate- must be certified in ESE and Pre-K/Primary (or willing to add subject areasto current certification in compliance with state mandated timelines)

Experience: 3+ years of experience working with individualswith intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.

o Demonstrate reliability, consistent attendance,and dependability to ensure stability and continuity for young learners.

o Strong organizational and time managementskills.

o Excellent communication, documentation, andcollaboration skills.

o Experience working with technology in aclassroom setting (AAC, Smart Boards, tablets, etc.)

o Ability to lift forty to fifty pounds.
