• Organizes a balance of teacher‑direct and child‑initiated activities, ensuring predictable routines and smooth transitions.
• Assists children with self‑care and daily living routines such as toileting, hand washing, hygiene, meal serving, cleaning, nap supervision, and provides necessary accommodations.
• Works toward achieving enrollment growth and daily attendance.
• Presents a positive role model and works positively with others.
• Communicates effectively in oral and written form.
• Establishes professional relationships with parents, including conferences and daily discussions.
• Has the ability to embed available technology into daily lesson plans.

Physical and Mental Demands / Abilities

• Supervise children, interact with and care for their physical needs, and monitor the learning environment while working at eye level.
• Maintain a hygienic learning environment.
• Dexterous handling of childcare tasks such as diaper changing and hand washing.
• Strength, conditioning, and agility to evacuate children promptly, lift children and items up to 50 pounds, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, reach, and walk safely on uneven surfaces.
• Maintain emotional control under stress and work with frequent interruptions.

Responsibilities

• Reinforce and demonstrate belief that all students can achieve at high levels.
• Plan daily objectives for kindergarten readiness in literacy, math, social studies, and science.
• Use multiple models of instruction, assessment data, and evidence‑based practices to engage students in critical thinking and problem solving.
• Apply Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines and District Curriculum to design engaging lessons.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, textbooks issued, grades, and progress.
• Effectively manage time and materials.
• Accept related assignments as requested by principals.
• Instruct classes in assigned subject areas.
• Care for instructional materials.
• Assess student performance accurately and provide feedback.
• Consult regularly with parents about student progress.
• Maintain classroom discipline that supports learning and safety.
• Analyze assessment data to individualize instruction.
• Identify at‑risk students and plan remediation and intervention.
• Adjust instruction for students with IEP goals and 504 accommodations.
• Collaborate with campus librarian in material selection.
• Encourage reluctant and struggling learners.
• Maintain equipment and furniture in good condition.
• Meet deadlines for reports and documents.
• Apply effective leadership techniques and adhere to campus, district, and state policies.
• Show professional growth and communication with community stakeholders.
• Support school administration and ensure safety and security compliance.
• Create an atmosphere conducive to learning.
• Assume responsibility for students’ academic success and professional development goals.

Working Conditions

• Receive and convey information to internal/external customers through spoken expression.
• Manipulate tools, equipment, and keyboards.
• Work while standing and walking extended periods (up to eight hours/day).
• See detailed information naturally or with correction.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Salary

TCHR: $54,500 minimum, plus $1,000 Master’s degree stipend if applicable.
