Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver lesson plans aligned with state standards, district curriculum, and IEP goals.
  • Assist with student identification, evaluations, parent conferences, IEP development, and periodic reviews.
  • Provide direct instruction in Braille, readiness skills, daily living skills, concept development, and other specialized skills for visually impaired students.
  • Select and implement appropriate reading media (Braille, large print, digital formats).
  • Align teaching strategies with individual learning styles and use evidence-based instructional techniques.
  • Track student progress using formative and summative assessments; provide timely feedback.
  • Develop and implement activities that support sensory processing and functional independence.
  • Communicate IEP and SDI objectives clearly to families and staff.
  • Participate in team meetings to plan services relevant to student needs.
  • Use positive behavioral interventions to support communication, self-regulation, socialization, and independence.
