- Teaches 6th to 8th grade "modern band" style ensemble and/or music production program where students leadership and creativity are prioritized
- Curricular content is based on student interest with the potential to incorporate related music, and is grounded in culturally relevant pedagogy
- Innovative approach to lesson planning, facilitation, and colleague collaboration in order to promote a culturally relevant, sustaining, and inclusive approach to music teaching and learning
- Communicate and collaborate with music department colleagues to reflect on teaching and learning experiences, revise and adapt curricula, and create vertical alignment with the goal of providing sustaining and student centered music experiences
- Knowledge of child development and drive to research and incorporate inclusive practices to promote access to high quality music education for each diverse learner
- Collaborate with school based and departmental colleagues, and utilize information in student plans, to facilitate lessons containing responsive and inclusive scaffolds, accommodations, and modifications
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, paraeducators, special educators, and student support staff when appropriate to foster an inclusive and responsive music learning environment for each student
- Passion for fostering relationships with students in order to learn about their interests, communities, languages, and cultures
- Incorporates positive and equitable classroom management practices, and collaborates with school based teams to promote consistency of school wide systems across content areas
- Advocate for relevant and high quality music experiences, settings, and opportunities, and foster advocacy skills in students through music learning and teaching
- Foster two-way communication and collaboration with caregivers
- Has excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, administrators, and caregivers

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Commitment to ensuring academic success for all students
- Experience working in an urban setting, preferred
- Experience working with diverse student populations, preferred
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply student performance data to instructional planning and execution
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent teamwork skills
- Bilingual applicants (Spanish) strongly encouraged to apply
