Job summary

Clear Destination Inc. seeks an educator to plan and deliver high-quality enrichment programming for youth in New York. The role applies the training of a New York State certified teacher to build engaging lessons and support academic and social growth.

The teacher will design project-based curriculum following the agency template, model instructional practice, and collaborate with colleagues to support student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Education or related field.
• Valid New York State teaching certification.
• Experience planning and delivering instruction to elementary and/or middle school-aged youth.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate enrichment lessons and activities within an assigned subject or specialization.
• Develop and adapt lesson plans, materials, and supplies to meet the academic and developmental needs of participants.
• Implement positive behavior management strategies, including clear expectations, verbal acknowledgement, and consistent follow-through.
• Track participant progress, both academically and socially, using required agency curriculum forms and tools.
• Assist students with homework assignments as needed.
• Maintain responsibility for the health, safety, and wellbeing of children at all times.
• Report behavioral concerns or incidents to the Program Director or another designated supervisor.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with participants, families, school faculty, and program colleagues.
• Support program events and functions such as showcases, exhibits, productions, and culminating activities.
• Model effective teaching practices and serve as an instructional resource for colleagues.
• Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

This role applies the training of a New York State certified teacher to build engaging lessons, support participants' academic and social growth, and model strong instructional practice for colleagues. The Teacher works within a specific enrichment area, designing project-based curriculum that follows the agency's required template and structure.

Essential Functions

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree in Education or a related field.
• Valid New York State teaching certification.
• Experience planning and delivering instruction to elementary and/or middle school-aged youth.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to plan and carry out assignments independently.
• Ability to prioritize, adhere to timelines, and multi-task.

Qualifications Preferred

• Experience in afterschool or youth development programming.
• Bilingual in one or more of the following: Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Bengali, and others, depending on client needs.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
