Job description

Boston Public Schools seeks an exceptional SPECIAL EDUCATION [Learning Disabled] MATHTEACHER with an SEI Endorsement who is highly qualified and knowledgeable to join our community of teachers, learners, and leaders. This is an exciting opportunity for teachers who desire to serve where their efforts matter. REPORTS TO:

Principal/Head of Schools

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Implement district learning goals aligned with state frameworks, including identifying access points for student portfolio development.
  2. Provide small-group instruction to students with moderate to severe cognitive delays, ensuring understanding and progress in the general curriculum.
  3. Write and implement goals and objectives based on student IEPs, providing regular progress reports.
  4. Provide accommodations for learning and testing; develop curriculum and analyze student work for MCAS Alternative Assessment.
  5. Collaborate with staff to support student needs for modifications.
  6. Assist in transition to adult living services as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Massachusetts Teaching License in appropriate content and Moderate Disabilities for the grade level.
  • SEI Endorsement or ESL License at the appropriate level.
  • Meet all licensing and qualification standards.
  • Ability to meet BPS Standards of Effective Teaching.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. by the first day.
QUALIFICATIONS - PREFERRED:
  • Experience in urban schools.
  • Background in Physics and Chemistry.
  • Degree in Special Education.
  • Fluency in BPS official languages such as Spanish, Creole, Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, or Somali.
  • Certification in core content and additional special education or ESL certifications.
