Additionally, the specialist will collaborate with students and colleagues from culturally diverse backgrounds, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment that values diverse perspectives and experiences.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Instruction & Intervention:
  • Provide targeted, small-group instruction in foundational math skills to students across various grade levels.
  • Group students by learning levels, not grade levels, to ensure personalized support.
  • Develop and implement individualized learning plans and intervention strategies to address academic gaps.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to identify students needing additional support and tailor interventions accordingly.
  • Curriculum Development:
  • Design and adapt instructional materials to meet students' specific learning needs.
  • Align instructional practices with state standards while addressing the learning levels and needs of each student.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods, including direct instruction, hands-on activities, and small-group lessons to engage students and foster growth.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making:
  • Regularly assess student progress using formative and summative assessments.
  • Use student performance data to adjust instructional strategies and interventions as needed to ensure maximum growth.
  • Track and report on student progress, providing regular updates to senior leadership and stakeholders regarding the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
  • Work closely with classroom teachers to align interventions with classroom instruction and support student success across all subjects.
  • Maintain open communication with parents/guardians to discuss student progress, challenges, and strategies for improvement.
  • Partner with the school leadership team to ensure alignment of intervention programs with broader academic goals.
  • Professional Development & Growth:
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current on best practices in academic interventions and math instruction.
  • Engage in continual learning to improve knowledge of educational research and effective intervention techniques.
  • School-Wide Support:
  • Contribute to school-wide initiatives aimed at improving overall student performance and achievement.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of strategies to improve literacy and numeracy across the school.
Key Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field (Master's degree or certifications in intervention programs is a plus).
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in teaching, tutoring, or intervention, preferably in an elementary or middle school setting.
  • Experience in differentiated instruction and working with students at various learning levels.
  • Strong understanding of foundational math concepts and effective strategies for teaching struggling learners.
  • Knowledge of assessment practices, educational research, and intervention techniques.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
Desired Skills & Attributes:
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting student growth.
  • Adaptability in providing personalized instruction for diverse learners.
  • Commitment to creating a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
This position will remain open until filled.
