Job description

Boston Public Schools seeks an exceptional Special Education [INSERT SUBJECT] Inclusion teacher with an SEI endorsement who is highly qualified and knowledgeable to join our community of teachers, learners, and leaders. This is an exciting opportunity for teachers who desire to serve where their efforts matter. Reports to: Principal/Head of school
Responsibilities
  1. Implement district learning goals and objectives, aligned with state frameworks, with familiarity in identifying access points for student portfolio development.
  2. Provide small-group instruction to students with moderate to severe cognitive delays to ensure understanding and progress in the general curriculum.
  3. Write and implement goals and objectives consistent with student IEPs and provide regular progress reports.
  4. Provide accommodations for learning and testing, develop curriculum, and analyze student work for MCAS Alternative Assessment preparation.
  5. Collaborate with staff to support student needs for modification.
  6. Assist in transition to adult living services as appropriate.

Qualifications - Required
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Massachusetts Teaching License in the appropriate content area and Moderate Disabilities for the grade level.
  • ESL License or SEI Endorsement.
  • Meet all licensing and federal guidelines to be fully licensed and Highly Qualified.
  • Ability to meet the Standards of Effective Teaching.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. from day one.
Qualifications - Preferred
  • Experience teaching in urban schools.
  • Degree in Special Education.
  • Fluency in one of BPS's official languages (Spanish, Creole, Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Somali).
  • Certification in subject area and in Moderate Disabilities and/or ESL.
