Reports To: School Site Supervisor

Supervisor: Students

Contract Length: 163 days

Starting Date: Aug 3, 2026

Pay Schedule: 2026/2027 NEA Salary Schedule

Hours: 7:16 AM - 3:45 PM, 4 days a week

Union Status: Non-Union

Licensure: NMPED

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $52,500 to $77,450 Per Year

Job Goal

To help each pupil develop competencies in basic mathematical skills and understanding of the structure of mathematics, to motivate each pupil to apply mathematical understanding and skills in solving practical problems, and to encourage pupils to develop their special talents in the field of mathematics.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Teach mathematics courses to middle and high school students using classroom instruction and the curricula adopted by the Board of Education.
  • Instruct pupils in citizenship, expected student behavior, and subject matter specified in state law and district regulations.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional aids emphasizing discovery and laboratory learning methods.
  • Demonstrate mathematical concepts using models, chalkboard, overhead projector, computers, and other standard or teacher‑prepared instructional aids.
  • Provide individualized and small‑group instruction to adapt curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
  • Design learning activities that relate mathematics to the physical world.
  • Establish and maintain classroom standards of pupil behavior to foster an orderly, productive environment.
  • Evaluate each pupil’s progress in mathematics knowledge and skills.
  • Select and requisition books, instructional aides, and supplies; maintain required inventory records.
  • Communicate with parents bi‑weekly, monthly, or sooner as needed to discuss student progress and behavior.
  • Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other staff to address health, attitude, and learning challenges.
  • Supervise pupils in out‑of‑classroom activities as assigned.
  • Participate in curriculum alignment, benchmarks, performance standards and assessments, including bilingual development programs and EPSS implementation.
  • Collect data to develop strategies for student improvement.
  • Support student activities such as mathematics teams and sponsor after‑school and faculty committee activities.
  • Maintain professional competencies through in‑service education and self‑selected professional growth activities.
  • Collaborate with administrator to develop evaluation method in accordance with district guidelines.
  • Administer district group standardized tests.
  • Administer language assessment scale testing and scoring in English and Spanish.
  • Attend board meetings at the request of the Superintendent or authorized designee.
  • Perform other assigned tasks as required.
