Job summary

Denver Public Schools is seeking a Long-Term Substitute teacher in Denver, CO to cover an extended absence. You will deliver grade-level curriculum, monitor student progress, and collaborate with staff to maintain a positive learning environment.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Education and a valid Colorado teaching license (CDE receipt acceptable for 90 days). Must reside in Colorado and be able to meet physical demands. This is a temporary, on-site assignment for Jan 1, 2027 to Jun 4, 2027.

Qualifications

• Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field.
• Have a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license. (DPS does accept a CDE Application Receipt for 90 days.)
• Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
• Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
• Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.

Responsibilities

• Counsels students to encourage and support student achievement.
• Monitors, supervises, coordinates, and enforces rule of conduct and behavior of assigned students and reinforces positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy.
• Observes, evaluates, reports, and records students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
• Prepares educational course outlines, objectives, and materials according to curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.
• Establishes and communicates clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects to students.
• Presents subject matter to students, using various teaching methods and technology, adjusting teaching style and method to meet student learning style.
• Instructs students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods (e.g., lectures, technology, discussions).
• Prepares, administers, assigns, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate student progress, reporting grades using District software.
• Prepares student, attendance and activity reports as required by administrators.
• Communicates with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems and coordinates instructional efforts.

About This Job
