Job summary

Denver Public Schools is seeking a Long-Term Substitute teacher for a temporary period from 11-23-26 to 12-18-26. The role requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field and a valid Colorado teaching license.

The substitute will deliver standard-based instruction and maintain classroom management in the absence of the regular teacher. The position offers an hourly salary of $30.76 with additional total rewards such as time off, health benefits, and PERA Retirement.

About This Job

A Long-Term Substitute is responsible for teaching appropriate grade level standard-based curriculum to students, following school/district approved curriculum while the classroom teacher is absent for an extended period of time.

What You'll Do

• Counsels students to encourage and support student achievement.
• Monitors, supervises, coordinates, and enforces rule of conduct and behavior of assigned students and reinforces positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy.
• Observes, evaluates, reports, and records students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
• Prepares educational course outlines, objectives, and materials according to curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.
• Establishes and communicates clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects to students.
• Presents subject matter to students, using various teaching methods and technology, adjusting teaching style and method to meet student learning style.
• Instructs students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods (e.g., lectures, technology, discussions).
• Prepares, administers, assigns, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate student progress, reporting grades using District software.
• Prepares student, attendance and activity reports as required by administrators.
• Communicates with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems and coordinates instructional efforts.

What You’ll Need

• Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field.
• Have a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license. (DPS does accept a CDE Application Receipt for 90 days.)
