Job description

Job Description: Instructional Specialist - Middle School

The Waukegan Community Unit School District 60 is seeking a dedicated Instructional Specialist to support middle school instruction and student achievement. This role involves collaborating with building administrators, teachers, and support staff to analyze student data, develop targeted interventions, and implement research-based instructional practices across all tiers.

Key Responsibilities include:

  1. Supporting data analysis and instructional planning based on assessments, progress reports, attendance, discipline, and recommendations to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
  2. Assisting in developing a school-wide schedule that maximizes intervention time without sacrificing core instruction.
  3. Collaborating with leadership teams and PLCs to monitor progress and plan next steps for school improvement.
  4. Overseeing assessment scheduling and progress monitoring to evaluate student responses to instruction and interventions.
  5. Mentoring staff in instructional best practices and data-driven problem-solving.
  6. Providing job-embedded professional development to staff on instructional strategies, data use, and MTSS frameworks.
  7. Supporting technology integration in instruction and classroom environments.
  8. Preparing and presenting data reports on student achievement and growth.
  9. Working with the principal and instructional leadership team to develop professional development plans with measurable benchmarks.
  10. Participating in district-level professional development and supporting curriculum and MTSS implementation.
  11. Maintaining confidentiality of records and information.
  12. Performing additional duties as assigned by the principal or Department of Teaching and Learning.

Qualifications:

  • Leadership experience in coaching and evaluating instructional strategies.

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and adult education skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Commitment to professional growth and integrity.
  • Master’s degree or enrollment in a relevant Master’s program and valid Illinois Professional Educators License with appropriate endorsement.
  • Minimum of three years of successful teaching or support experience.

Work Environment: Middle School Sites

Terms of Employment: Hours to be determined, including 10 additional workdays beyond the school year.

Compensation: Salary Structure with a $5000 stipend
