Job summary

NurturEd in Rhode Island is seeking a Lead Teacher to join our team. You will work with Teacher Assistants to create a safe, healthy, structured and nurturing environment.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of experience with children in this age group, strong verbal and written communication, reliability, organizational and leadership skills. We offer comprehensive benefits after 30 hours and a typical full-time schedule of 35–37 hours per week.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience with children in this age group are preferred.
• Willing to train the right person.
• Knowledge of early childhood education best practices is a plus.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
• Able to read, write and communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Teacher Assistants to create a safe, healthy, structured, nurturing environment.
• Engage with children in learning activities, reading, and play.
• Inspire children to be lifelong learners.
• Partner with families to nurture and care for children.
• Demonstrate tech skills with an electronic daily tracking app.
• Assist with accreditation processes and quality initiatives.
• Oversee and coordinate curriculum and assessments.

A typical day for a Lead Teacher will include:

• Working alongside the Teacher Assistants to create a safe, healthy, structured, and nurturing environment.
• Engaging with children in learning - reading, playing, and having fun!
• Inspiring children to be lifelong learners.
• Partnering with families to nurture and care for their children.
• Showcasing your tech savvy skills by using an electronic daily tracking app.
• Assisting with the accreditation process as well as other quality initiatives.
• Overseeing, developing, implementing, and coordinating curriculum and assessments.

Our learning centers are open between the hours of 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Monday - Friday. We have locations across Rhode Island.

Requirements

We are willing to train the right person! Our ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience working with children in this age group.

We are looking for someone who has the following skills:

• A personal demeanor that is warm and friendly.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Organized and able to prioritize and multi-task.
• Team-oriented and willing to work with others.
• Management / leadership skills

Education Requirements

• College credits, Associate’s degree, or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
• Minimum of High school diploma (or equivalent) with college credits in Early Childhood Education or related field required.
• We will train the right person and offer opportunities to gain a degree or college credits!

Certifications/Experience

• At least 1 year working with children in this age group.
• At least 1 year working in an early learning/child care setting preferred.
• Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Standards (RIELDS) certification preferred.
• Knowledge of Teaching Strategies and/or Conscious Discipline preferred.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Able to engage in physical exercise with children (walking, running, crawling, bending, twisting).
• Visual and hearing acuity.
• Able to lift up to 40 pounds.

Other Qualifications

• 21 years of age or older
• Able to read, write, speak and understand English, bilingual encouraged to apply.
• Must pass national criminal background/fingerprints check.
• Must pass Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) Clearance Request (CPS).
