Job summary

Mercy in Saint Louis is seeking a dedicated caregiver to develop, implement and carry through age-appropriate curriculum. You will use Developmentally Appropriate Practice and Accreditation Standards to meet each child's needs and foster exploration through play, while coordinating staff and child interactions in a safe, respectful environment.

The role requires a high school diploma and registration with the State Family Care Safety Registry within 15 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must register with the State of practice Family Care Safety Registry within 15 days of hire.
• Preferred: 1 year of child care experience in early childhood setting.
• Certifications and licensure as applicable by state.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum using established indicators and standards.
• Provide safe, nurturing environment and supervise classroom activities.
• Support positive interactions between staff and children and adapt learning to individual needs.
• Coordinate with team to ensure smooth staff-child interaction.

Demonstrates the ability to understand each child's individual needs as well as the group. Assists each child in becoming an integral member of the group. Provides opportunities for children to construct their own knowledge through exploration and play experiences. Provides a smooth coordination of staff/child interaction and activities appropriately. Adaptations are provided when necessary to meet the individual learning style of each child. Relates to children in a positive and respectful manner. Responsible for the supervision and management of assigned classroom while providing a safe and nurturing environment. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our Mission, Values, and Mercy Service Standards.
