Responsibilities

• Teach General Science in an SEI setting.
• Design interdisciplinary courses aligned with state curricular frameworks that foster understanding of science concepts.
• Implement district learning goals and curriculum provided by the Science Department.
• Utilize research-based curriculum to encourage scientific inquiry.
• Help students view science as a way of thinking and investigating.
• Administer district assessments as scheduled.

Qualifications - Required

• Bachelor's degree.
• Massachusetts Teaching License in General Science for the appropriate grade level.
• Meet all licensing and qualification standards.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. by the first day of employment.

Qualifications - Preferred

• Experience teaching in urban schools.
• SEI Endorsement or dual certification in ESL.
• Degree in a relevant science or education field.
• Fluency in one of BPS' official languages (Spanish, Creole, Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Somali).
• Certification in Moderate Disabilities or ESL is preferred for core content teachers.

School hours vary; some schools may have extended days through the ELT program.
