Job summary

Amergis Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Austin, TX. This contract part-time position requires delivering classroom instruction to deaf and hard-of-hearing students within a school setting.

The candidate should hold a valid state teaching certificate and preferably a Bachelor’s degree, with ASL proficiency and experience with DHH students. Licensing, health and safety clearances may be required by district regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Valid state teaching certificate as required by state regulations.
• Knowledge of Sign Language and use of amplification devices for the deaf.
• Experience with deaf and hard-of-hearing students preferred.
• ASL proficiency exam or Certification may be required per state, contract or district.
• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice.
• Current CPR if applicable; TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable.
• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Teaches deaf and hard-of-hearing pupils in a classroom setting.

The Teacher for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing teaches deafand hard-of-hearing pupils in a classroom setting. Instructs in academic subjects of regularcurriculum or adapted curriculum to meet needs of student population.
