Job summary

Big Brainbox is seeking an energetic teacher to run afterschool programs for K–12 students. You’ll own your classroom, develop and deliver engaging lessons, and guide hands-on STEM activities using our AI tools.

You’ll receive onboarding, hands-on training, and access to a supportive leadership team with regular check‑ins. The role offers a flexible part‑time schedule after school and on Saturdays, with opportunities to grow in a mission‑driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in STEM, Education or related field preferred.
• Experience in Education or EdTech industry.
• Experience in ISD is highly desirable.
• Tutoring centers/afterschool programs experience.
• Knowledge of neurodiversity learning needs.
• Comfortable managing a classroom independently.
• Strong communicator with students, parents, teammates.
• Familiarity with robotics (FLL/FTC) is a plus.
• Hands-on chemistry or biology project experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead afterschool tutoring for ELA, MATH, SCIENCES for K–12 students.
• Develop lesson plans using AI tools for the lessons.
• Facilitate hands-on science activities in chemistry, biology, and applied STEM
• Deliver targeted tutoring in literacy, math, and STEM for K–12 students
• Support students with learning differences using positive reinforcement strategies
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, high-energy learning environment
• Handle classroom setup, materials, and basic inventory
• Communicate student updates to parents and caregivers as directed
• Attend team check-ins and required BBX training sessions

The Role - Teacher in Afterschool Program

You'll independently lead afterschool programs for K–12 students. At BBX, Instructors own their classroom to support our after school program for our students. You'll receive structured onboarding, hands‑on training, and a direct escalation line to BBX leadership when you need it. What You'll Do

• Lead afterschool tutoring for ELA, MATH, SCIENCES for K–12 students.

What We Are Looking For

• Completed Bachelor's in STEM, Education or related field preferred
• Experience in Education or EdTech industry will be considered
• Experience working in ISD is highly desirable.
• Prior experience in an educational setting required — tutoring centers (Kumon, Sylvan, etc.), STEM camps, learning academies, or afterschool programs qualify
• Understanding of Neurodiversity learning needs and support
• Comfortable managing a classroom independently
• Strong communicator with students, parents, and teammates
• Reliable, adaptable, and mission‑aligned
• Familiarity with FLL, FTC, or robotics competitions is a strong plus
• Hands‑on chemistry or biology project experience is a plus

Compensation Band

• Compensation is determined based on various factors such as:
  • Length of Professional Teaching/Tutoring Experience
  • Highest level of education
  • Bachelors and/or Master degree in Education or related field
  • Current or Past licenses in Texas or any other state in the field of education
  • Length of Experience working in/with ISD
  • Experience working with Neuro Diverse students
