Job summary

Big Brainbox is seeking a part-time Teacher in its Afterschool Program in Frisco, TX to lead K-12 tutoring with autonomy. You’ll develop lesson plans, run hands-on science activities, and use AI tools to tailor lessons for diverse learners.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• In Progress or Completed Bachelor's in STEM or related field preferred.
• Experience in Education or EdTech industry will be considered.
• Prior experience in an educational setting required — tutoring centers, STEM camps, or afterschool programs qualify.
• Understanding of Neurodiversity learning needs and support.
• Comfortable managing a classroom independently.
• Strong communicator with students, parents, and teammates.

Responsibilities

• Lead afterschool tutoring for ELA, MATH, SCIENCES for K-12 students.
• Develop lesson plans using our AI tools for the lessons.
• Facilitate hands-on science activities in chemistry, biology, and applied STEM
• Deliver targeted tutoring in literacy, math, and STEM for K-12 students
• Support students with learning differences using positive reinforcement strategies
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, high-energy learning environment
• Handle classroom setup, materials, and basic inventory
• Communicate student updates to parents and caregivers as directed
• Attend team check-ins and required BBX training sessions

The Role - Teacher in Afterschool Program

You’ll independently lead afterschool programs for K-12 students. At BBX, Instructors own their classroom to support our after school program for our students. You’ll receive structured onboarding, hands-on training, and a direct escalation line to BBX leadership when you need it. What You’ll Do

What We Are Looking For

• High school diploma required
• In Progress or Completed Bachelor's in STEM or related field preferred
• Experience in Education or EdTech industry will be considered
• Prior experience in an educational setting required — tutoring centers (Kumon, Sylvan, etc.), STEM camps, learning academies, or afterschool programs qualify
• Understanding of Neurodiversity learning needs and support
• Comfortable managing a classroom independently
• Strong communicator with students, parents, and teammates
• Reliable, adaptable, and mission-aligned
• Familiarity with FLL, FTC, or robotics competitions is a strong plus
• Hands-on chemistry or biology project experience is a plus

Compensation Band

• Compensation is determined based on various factors such as:
  • Length of Professional Teaching/Tutoring Experience
  • Highest level of education
  • Bachelors and/or Master degree in Education or related field
  • Current or Past licenses in Texas or any other state in the field of education
  • Length of Experience working in/with ISD
  • Experience working with Neuro Diverse students
