JOB SUMMARY

The AACPS Enhancing Elementary Excellence (Triple E) STEM Teacher facilitates authentic, standards-aligned elementary STEM instruction grounded in the Engineering Design Process. Through inquiry-based and project-based learning, teachers guide students to define problems, design solutions, test ideas, and reflect on outcomes. Instruction emphasizes collaboration, iteration, and student agency while using observation, feedback, and reflection to support equitable access and meaningful learning for all students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Facilitates standards-aligned elementary STEM instruction grounded in the Engineering Design Process, guiding students to define problems, develop solutions, test ideas, and reflect on outcomes using developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Implements inquiry-based and project-based learning experiences that emphasize collaboration, iteration, creativity, and problem solving across STEM disciplines.
  • Intentionally integrates transdisciplinary connections (e.g., ELA, mathematics, social studies, arts) to support real‑world applications of STEM learning.
  • Utilizes technology and digital tools strategically to support research, design, modeling, communication, and reflection, enhancing—not replacing—hands‑on learning.
  • Uses observation, questioning, student discourse, and documentation of student thinking to understand learning progress and inform instructional decisions.
  • Participates in system-based and school-based professional learning to remain current in STEM education, Engineering Design Process practices, instructional technology, culturally responsive teaching, and inquiry-based pedagogy.
  • Collaborates with grade-level colleagues, specialists, and community partners to support cohesive instruction and meaningful learning experiences.
  • Contributes to program reflection and continuous improvement through the collection and analysis of non‑graded student learning evidence and instructional data.
  • Maintains positive professional relationships with colleagues, families, and community partners to support program goals.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university required.
Experience
  • Three (3) years successful classroom teaching experience or experience in a related field required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics
  • Knowledge of current trends, research in field of specialization and methodology in instructional techniques.
  • Knowledge of school organization, goals and objectives with special emphasis on teacher techniques.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities as a member of a school staff/office.
  • Ability to employ a variety of teaching styles to respond to the needs of diverse learners.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form with professional colleagues, staff, students and parents.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the functionality of google-based products.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Video/Web Conferencing, Microsoft Office Suite -Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint preferred).
Licenses and Certifications

Employee must retain active licenses, certifications, and enrollment as a condition of employment.

  • Hold or be eligible for educator certificate/license issued by Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) required.
