Job Description

This posting is for candidates who would like to be considered for any and all STIP Substitute openings at OUSD. School Site Based Substitute A participant in the Substitute Teacher Incentive Plan (STIP) is a substitute teacher who serves at a specific school site every day for the entire period of the STIP contract and is required to report daily to an assignment of any grade level or subject area.

Qualifications
  • This position requires at minimum a 30 day Substitute Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC).
  • Candidates can qualify to apply for this Permit if they have a Bachelor's degree.
  • All Candidates need to have a Certificate of Clearance on the CTC before being authorized to work. This link will lead to the information candidates need to fulfill this requirement.
Important Information Regarding the Basic Skills Requirement
  • On June 29, 2024, Governor Gavin Newsomsigned a budget trailer bill, SB 153 (Chap. 38, Statutes of 2024), that allows candidates to use their bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education (IHE) as demonstration of the basic skills requirement, effective immediately. PSA 24-07 outlines the Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education (IHE) as demonstration of the Basic Skills Requirement.
  • If your circumstances indicate you need this exam, you may already meet CBEST/Basic Skills through your SAT, ACT, coursework or another qualifying exam. Please check here for Basic Skills Requirement information and here for information about the CBEST exam.
Requirements
  • Be prepared to work every instructional day as assigned on a day-to-day or long-term basis.
  • Sign a temporary contract designed specifically for this purpose.
  • Participate in district and/or school site in‑services as assigned.
  • Two current professional references, including from a Supervisor.

  • Full medical, dental, and vision benefits, including Flexible Spending Accounts, plus life insurance and long‑term disability coverage for teacher and dependents at no cost to full‑time teachers.
  • Retirement benefits through the CALSTRS Retirement System.
  • BCLAD Stipend - $3,000 with a valid BCLAD or Bilingual authorization.
