Teacher, Early Learning - Seattle Preschool Program

Overview

We seek passionate Early Education professionals committed to providing excellent educational experiences for children and their families. This role offers growth in a supportive environment with dedicated leadership and abundant resources.

The Teacher, Early Learning will lead classroom activities in the Seattle Preschool Program, implementing curriculum and supervising children.

Hiring Range: $22.00 - $24.20 / hour

Responsibilities
  • Supervise children ensuring their health and safety, providing a positive experience
  • Assist in planning and implementing culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate activities
  • Guide staff/volunteers overseeing children’s activities
  • Support Lead Teacher in meeting program requirements and deadlines
  • Communicate professionally with parents/guardians
  • Follow YMCA policies, including emergency and disciplinary procedures
  • Fill in for Lead Teacher as needed
  • Maintain a clean and inviting classroom environment
  • Prepare and serve snacks, maintain snack area
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • At least 18 years old
  • Minimum one year experience in a classroom with children aged kindergarten and younger
  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development Associate's Degree or 20 college credits in ECE
  • Current state-approved first-aid and infant/child CPR certifications
  • HIV/AIDS training certification
  • Completion of minimum STARS-required training
  • Pre-employment TB tests and MMR vaccination required

Additional relevant education and experience will be considered. Training must be completed within specified timeframes.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with diverse populations; multilingual abilities are a plus.
