Overview

The Elementary English position is student-focused. This position is as a homeroom co-teacher in a 50/50 English/Hebrew immersion model, and candidates should be familiar and comfortable with teaching Reading, Math, Science and Social Studies, among other areas.


Teacher Job Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the developmental stages of young children and educational theories that support learning and development;
  2. Plan and deliver effective student-based instruction on a daily basis, based on early learning standards, student assessment data, and Sela PCS’ curriculum framework;
  3. Conduct and organize ongoing assessments of student performance using multiple assessment tools, anecdotal records, portfolios, and individualized assessments as appropriate;
  4. Provide an inviting, exciting learning environment using varied instructional techniques and developmentally appropriate strategies;
  5. Mastery/deep knowledge in instructional subject area, with an undergraduate major or minor or graduate degree in the subject;
  6. Evidence of student achievement growth in previous teaching roles;
  7. Strong desire to collaborate with other faculty and instructional leaders to discuss student work and ensure curricular coherence;
  8. Passion for Early Childhood and the ability to connect with and motivate, individually and collectively, a diverse group of students;
  9. Strong commitment to all students;
  10. Boundless energy and enthusiasm for working with students and other adults in the building;
  11. Belief in the critical importance of diversity in the life of a school.

Teacher Minimum Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required; Masters degree preferred
  2. Early Childhood teaching experience preferred
  3. Excellent oral and written communication skills
  4. Legally authorized to work in the United States

Compensation

The annual salary for this position depends on the applicant’s years of experience and educational level, and ranges from $58,525 to $92,688, and may be viewed on the salary scale on Sela PCS’s website at https://selapcs.org/careers/.
