Educational Audiologist

Strong Clinical Audiology Foundation Preferred

Experience in Educational Setting Helpful, But Not Necessary

Seeking an individual with strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills to provide audiologic services to students aged birth through 21 years enrolled in district programs.

  • Team with other educational audiologists, itinerant teachers of deaf/hard-of-hearing (D/HH) students, and early childhood special education (ECSE) teachers to deliver a comprehensive array of services to D/HH students.
  • Team with school nurses and other district professionals to refine and implement district-wide hearing screening/intake program.
  • Assist building student support teams on hearing referral/assessment procedures.
  • Conduct initial audiologic assessments, as well as 3-year audiologic reassessments for D/HH students on Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Participate as a member of building student support teams in developing IEPs for D/HH students.
  • Provide audiologic consultation and indirect service to students, school personnel, and parents.
  • Provide in-service training to school personnel and classroom peers involved directly with D/HH students, as such training relates to hearing loss, acoustic modifications in the classroom environment, and use, operation and monitoring of assistive listening devices.
  • Monitor use and adequacy of hearing aids and other assistive listening devices worn by D/HH students in the school environment.
  • Evaluate the need for and potential educational benefit to be derived from remote microphone amplification systems for D/HH students.
  • Arrange for maintenance and repair of district-owned remote microphone amplification systems.
  • Participate in on-going development of the educational audiology services team.
  • Participate in staff development activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by administration

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training and Experience

  • Postgraduate Degree (Au.D. or equivalent) from an accredited university
  • Audiology License with Minnesota Department of Health (MDH)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A)

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Audiology License with Minnesota Department of Health (MDH)
