Pay Range:

$16.32-$17.83 hourly

Position Summary:

The Teacher Assistant assists the Head Start Teacher in providing children aged 3 to 5 with learning experiences that promote school readiness. Responsibilities include creating and implementing individualized lesson plans, developing meaningful relationships with children and families, and designing safe, engaging environments.

Essential Functions:
  • Assist in observing, documenting, and assessing student progress
  • Help analyze student data
  • Support the development and implementation of lesson plans based on student data, interests, and developmental practices
  • Engage families in program services and activities that promote parenting skills and confidence
  • Conduct Family Conferences and Home Visits
  • Maintain clean, safe, and engaging indoor and outdoor learning environments
  • Ensure compliance with Bauer policies, State Licensing, and Head Start standards
  • Attend staff meetings, professional development days, agency meetings, and pre-service training
Qualifications:

Regular attendance and the ability to perform essential duties are required. Candidates must pass routine background checks.

Education/Certification/Licensure:
  • Current enrollment in a CDA certificate program or in/with an Associate or Bachelor's degree program
  • Valid Indiana driver’s license and ability to meet insurance requirements
Experience Required:
  • 1-2 years preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Commitment to serving children and families in poverty
  • Willingness to learn
  • Strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of child development and safety standards
  • Ability to create effective lesson plans
  • Organization and time management
  • Basic computer skills
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus
