Qualifications

  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish is required.

TheTeacher Assistant (Student Advisor)will be the primary point of contact for students enrolled in thePhiladelphia Virtual Academy (PVA)program. This position requiresbilingual fluency in Spanish(with Russian or Chinese as secondary preferences). The role involves communicating with students and parents to help them understand the program and navigate the PVA system.

TheTeacher Assistant/Student Advisor may alsomanage a student caseload, monitor progress, and provide1:1 or small-group academic supportto students as needed. Translation projects as assigned.

Position Details:

  • Location:Remote (Work from Home)
  • Schedule:Part-Time,12:00 PM – 4:00 PM
  • Duration:Through the2024-2025school year (working on all student days)
  • Pay Rate:$22.00 per hour
  • Grade Levels:SupportingK-12th grade students

ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of web-based programs and apps
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate (oral and written)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to adapt to organizational, system and developmental changes with assistance from supervisor and/or colleagues
  • Bilingual in Spanish (or Russian or Chinese)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors Degree in education or related field
  • Experience as an instructional assistant or teacher preferred
  • Experience troubleshooting computer- and technology-related issues preferred
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills
