Teacher Assistant - Residency Program (HC) 25-26 SY

This position is for those participating in the NexGen Teacher Residency Program only.

Compensation

$17.50/hour plus benefits. Note: The hourly rate includes a 4.5% retirement contribution to the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF).

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois Educator License with Stipulations - Paraprofessional, Professional Educator License, or Substitute Teacher License.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and work well with students and staff.
• Effective interpersonal skills and basic knowledge-based competencies.
• Ability to use basic job-related equipment.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds regularly.

General Description

Under supervision, the Teacher Assistant monitors and supports student learning, maintains records, and may assist in lesson planning and instructional material preparation. May also support translation or communication using second language skills.

Specific Responsibilities

• Facilitate small group and one-on-one instruction, employing motivational techniques.
• Maintain confidentiality and update student records.
• Prepare instructional materials and supplies.
• Participate in meetings and professional development.
• Support students in various settings, including supervision during recess, lunch, and field trips.
• Support district policies and ethical standards.
