Overview

The Teacher Assistant at Hampstead Hospital assists students in the classroom, working 1:1 when appropriate. Implements teaching plans with the Education Coordinator and handles documentation, correspondence, and clerical duties. Supports our PRFT (Residential) Unit.

Responsibilities

  1. Provides classroom and unit coverage, offering individualized assistance to students to help them achieve basic skills and demonstrate positive work habits.
  2. Implements teaching plans under the guidance of the Educational Coordinator, communicating daily to review behavioral and academic objectives and techniques.
  3. Establishes clear behavior expectations, holds students accountable, and teaches responsible behaviors through appropriate consequences and intervention. Works as part of a multidisciplinary team, observing and recording student performance.
  4. Participates in discharge and continuing care planning.
  5. Promotes hospital safety culture, reports errors and significant events, and participates in safety training and performance improvement activities.
  6. Maintains educational and vocational objectives, including ABA-based Discrete Trial Teaching, core academic curricula, and vocational programming.
  7. Assists in educational assessments.

Qualifications

  1. Associate's degree or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  2. No experience required; additional work experience can substitute for formal education.
  3. Interest in Secretarial/Clerical/Administrative fields.
  4. FTE: 1.00, 40 hrs/week, Day shift.
