Job description

Teacher Assistant for Coleman Center (FLOATER)

The Teacher Assistant (FLOATER) position for Coleman Center is responsible for teaching in an infant, toddler, two-year old, three-year old, and/or four-year old classroom program, including either co-teaching or providing needed care independently; and this position reports to the Director of Coleman Center.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent
  2. Experience working with children in a group format
  3. Strong written and oral communication skills
  4. Knowledge of curriculum and child development
  5. Energetic and positive attitude
  6. Ability to develop excellent working relationships
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Enrolled in college coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field at a regionally accredited institution
  2. Child Development Associate (CDA) OR Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
  3. Previous experience working with children in a group format in an Alabama DHR licensed child care center
  4. Previous experience with Creative Curriculum or Conscious Discipline
Work Hours

Full time (40 hours per week). Hours may be flexible, as needed, to meet the demands of the center. Standard hours of operation (7:00 am – 6:00 pm).
