Job summary

Greater East Texas Community Action (GETCAP) seeks a floating substitute to assist in all aspects of classroom operation in place of or in addition to regular teaching staff, coordinating substitute teachers to cover classrooms in Nacogdoches, TX.

The position begins January 5, 2026. The role emphasizes safety, health promotion, and nurturing communication and creativity among young learners in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assists in classrooms in addition to regular teaching staff as needed.
• Provide a safe environment to prevent and reduce injuries.
• Promote health and nutrition and help to provide an environment that contributes to the prevention of illness.
• Provide opportunities for children to understand, acquire and use verbal and non-verbal means of communicating thoughts and feelings.
• Provide experiences that stimulate children to explore and express their creative abilities.
• Help each child to know, accept and take pride in himself and to develop a sense of independence.
• Help children learn to get along with others and encourage feeling of empathy and mutual respect among children and adults.
• Provide an environment in which children can learn and practice behaviors which are appropriate and acceptable individually and in a group.

Salary Range
