Job summary

Rockingham County School Division Central Office - Harrisonburg, Virginia is seeking a Teacher Assistant for the Post Grad Program. This 10-month, full-time position supports students under the supervision of special education staff.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, some college coursework, and a willingness to obtain CPR/AED/First Aid certification; ParaPro preferred. Applicants must meet citizenship/residency requirements and may be asked to drive on the RCPS

Note: Special Education Teacher Assistants hired in Secondary Adapted programs are required to be on the RCPS approved driving list.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Candidate must possess the ability to develop and maintain an empathetic attitude toward disabled students; work cooperatively with others in a positive manner; willing to learn specialized instructional/management techniques with disabled students, as needed; willing to seek and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation(CPR)/Automated External Defibrillator(AED)/First Aid certification; ability to communicate and develop effective working relationships with students, parents, and staff.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
