$46,177.00/yr - $51,256.00/yr

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Managing Associate Teacher and the Early Learning site-based leadership team, assists in overseeing and directing the planning, organizing, and implementation of education services for children, including full-time classroom teacher duties, such as developing and implementing individual educational plans for children.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Ensure an emotionally safe climate by upholding and demonstrating practices outlined in the NAEYC Code of Conduct in all interactions.
  • Utilize strategies for Active Supervision throughout the day and in all spaces (indoors and outdoors) to ensure child safety and wellbeing.
  • Support the daily implementation of the Center’s Best Practice Schedule and Napping Policy.
  • Perform functions with a strong understanding of Head Start Performance Standards and Developmentally Appropriate Practices.
  • Collaborate with the MAT and Program Advisor team in creating and facilitating studies to support weekly lesson plans, including daily activities and field trips.
  • Maintain a comprehensive developmental portfolio for each child, including screenings, observational data, and samples of work.
  • Conduct home visits and parent conferences to discuss development, progress, and observations.
  • Implement family-style meals, supporting social and self-help skills, and ensure sound nutritional practices.
  • Collaborate with family support staff to exchange information on children with disabilities.
  • Work with mental health and program teams to support developmental needs and practices.
  • Guide children's social skills development across all domains.
  • Attend staff training, meetings, and parent meetings as needed.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy classroom environment, including equipment and supplies.
  • Use the playground as an extension of the classroom, ensuring safety.
  • Assist in health and environment checklists and implementing children's IEPs or IFSPs.
  • Assist in recruiting and orienting volunteers.
  • Complete and submit required documentation timely and accurately.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Associate’s degree in early childhood education or child development with a Level 4 ECE and IT credential; or a baccalaureate with the same credentials.
  • Knowledge of Head Start philosophy, early childhood education, and bilingual education.
  • Proof of recent physical exam, TB test, and background checks as per standards.
  • Personal qualities: emotional maturity, cooperation, respect, flexibility, patience, hygiene, health.
  • Experience in parent collaboration in children's education.
Additional Requirements
  • Abstract reasoning, problem-solving, planning, and analytical skills.
  • Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and online documentation.
  • Teamwork experience, positive community representation, visual and auditory acuity, manual dexterity, ability to lift 55 pounds, and experience with diverse staff and stakeholders.
