Job summary

Paycom is seeking a Teacher Assistant for Dr. Lena Edwards Academic Charter School in Jersey City, NJ 07304. Tenure: ten, eleven, or twelve-month year with salary and year to be established by the Board.

Responsibilities include supporting daily lesson planning, conducting small-group learning activities, guiding children in cooperative play, and assisting with meals, records, and classroom organization. Attending staff meetings and professional development is required.

Qualifications

• Substitute Teacher Certification or an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Previous experience working as teaching assistant preferred but nor required.
• Has a minimum of 60 College Credits

• Participates in daily and long-range lesson and classroom activity planning.
• Conducts learning exercises with small groups of children.
• Guides children in working and playing harmoniously with other children.
• Alerts the teacher to special needs of individual children.
• Provides escort and assistance to children as necessary.
• Helps maintain individual records for each child.
• Fosters good eating habits and table manners in children.
• Assists teacher in maintaining neat work and study areas.
• Assists with the supervision of children during meal times and regular play periods.
• Collects and displays suitable material for educational displays.
• Attends staff meetings, conferences, and required professional development workshops.

Education
