Job summary

Tri-County Community Action Agency in Bridgeton, NJ is seeking a part-time Head Start Helper to assist in meeting regulatory standards and supporting early childhood education for young children.

Position requires High School diploma or GED and CDA involvement, plus reliable transportation and ability to document child progress. The role includes classroom activities, administrative tasks, and parent/volunteer coordination at R E Campus S07.

Qualifications

• Must have a Child Development Associate (CDA) or enroll immediately in CDA program.
• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must have a car available on a daily basis.
• Must be able to read and write sufficiently to maintain proper records.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head or Group Teacher in carrying out activities that ensure the classroom meets Head Start Performance Standards and New Jersey Licensing Regulations.
• Assist the teacher in planning and implementing educational activities in the classroom and interact with children in a developmentally appropriate manner.
• Assist the Teacher in observing, screening, assessing, and documenting children's growth and development. Document observations and individual activities in blue books.
• Assist in carrying out administrative duties as delegated by the teacher.
• Assume Teacher responsibilities in the absence of the Teacher.
• Prepare and maintain appropriate records or reports. This may include maintaining daily attendance record of children and managing records of classroom in-kind. Submit accurate records of in-kind on a monthly basis.
• Participate in weekly Center staff meetings and all other meetings as requested. Attend training and workshops.
• Encourage and coordinate parent and volunteer involvement. Accompany Teacher in making educational Home Visits and Parent/Teacher conferences as requested by Teacher. Coordinate classroom volunteer program.
• Any other Head Start task as delegated by Teacher or management.
