Teacher Assistant 2024-2025 SY

The Intensive Education Academy (IEA) is currently hiring Teacher Assistants for its 2024-2025 SY. This position will report to a teacher and/or other certified professional educator.

  • Job Type: Full-time Non-Exempt

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or GED; and 60 college credits or an associate (or higher) degree, or have passed the Praxis ParaPro Assessment Test.

At least one year of experience working with or training to work with children with disabilities is required.

Schedule: School Calendar from 7:45 am to 3:00 pm

Pay: $17.10 to $22.80 - depending on qualifications and experience.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Support certified professional staff with helping students to meet instructional goals and objectives or assist with other duties in the school that add to the overall quality of the school or the educational experience of the students.
  • Support and guide students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
  • Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement assigned programs.
  • Support classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to individual student needs.
  • Develop a strong rapport with students and maintain behavior systems created to support students struggling with behavior.
  • Assist students in non-instructional areas, such as supervising the student lunch programs, bus duty, playground duty, corridor, study hall, and other related non-instructional areas.
  • Accompany students on field trips for the purpose of assisting with supervision.
