Job description

The leadership of Family and Workforce Centers of America (FWCA) has a history of serving the St. Louis community for over 30 years. FWCA has an immediate opening for Teacher Assistant for the Early Explorers Child Development Academy.

The Teacher Assistant will assist in planning and implementing learning opportunities that further the children's social, emotional, cognitive, physical growth and development while acting as a support and resource for parents.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist in developing and implementing developmentally appropriate activities on a daily basis.
• Conduct daily health checks and ensure the environment is clean, safe, and free of hazards; assist in developing and implementing individualized activities based on the development level of each child.
• Assist with creating learning environments in the classroom and outside for young children which promote experimentation and exploration.
• Communicate effectively with parents in promoting parental involvement in their child's early learning experience.
• Facilitate and assist children in developing positive relationships that support a caring community within the classroom.

Job Requirements:

• Working knowledge and understanding of early childhood development and education.
• Ability to communicate effectively with parents and including them in their child's learning process.
• One-year teaching experience working with infants and toddlers.
• Pass a criminal and child abuse and neglect background check and drug screening.
• Ability to provide a recent physical & TB test.

Education Requirements:

• Graduation from a general or technical high school. CDA Licensure required.
• Associate Degree in Early Childhood Development or related preferred.
• Classroom experience preferred.
